We have taken our beloved sword-tag and made it a little more friendlier for those of us looking to creatively express and play at a younger age. This early ages form of Adventures in Cardboard will see new adventures, new storylines, new quests, and new creations spurred on by the creativity, playfulness, and imagination of young participants!

Adventures in Cardboard uses the power of fantasy storytelling to explore and combine crafting, improvised roleplay, and tactical competition into creative mythic outdoor play.
STEP INTO A WORLD OF SWORDS AND SORCERY, LABYRINTHS, MYTHICAL HEROES AND LEGENDARY BEASTS! JOIN VISITING ARTISTS AND LEARN TO MAKE JUST ABOUT ANYTHING OUT OF CARDBOARD! ADVENTURES IN CARDBOARD SEEKS TO RE-INSPIRE CREATIVE OUTDOOR PLAY BY IMMERSING PARTICIPANTS IN FANTASTIC WORLDS THAT THEY HELP TO CREATE.

Guided along by experienced knights of the Realm, young adventurers will be initiated into an ancient and esteemed House of The Realm and jump into live-action adventure gaming! Join us as the mundane existence of everyday life drifts away to the adventures and tall tales made and shared in a fantasy realm. Make costumes, create characters, and tell stories as we fight against monsters, come to the aid of forest folk and friendly dragons, and practice our witchcraft and wizardry alongside our skills with swords.

What to Expect

  • the creation of individual props, costumes, arms & armor,
  • playing role-play, tactical and exploratory games on the trails

The Armory

Build a shield, magic wand, wizards tome, and accessories.

Add spikes, fins, scales, plates, limited only by your imagination. Go classic or go mythic.

Or... scrap the arms and armor and work instead on magical potions, artifacts of power, hoods, capes, crowns, and rings of power!

The Games

Develop group identities in daily competitions of tactical swordplay, fantasy roleplay and other age-adapted games.

Open fields becomes the grounds for pitched battles against fierce Counselor-Characters. Forest pathways and woodland trails shelter friendly woodland animals seeking your protection. Will your Faction rally to the call and become the newest leaders of the Woodlands?

Adventurers are divided into two brave factions that populate the Woodland. The Chickens leading the Fellowship of the Feathers, and the Possums leading the Pact of the Paw, each with its own set of virtues and weaknesses. These Factions collaborate and compete in games that seek to instill integrity, chivalry, creativity and collaborative play. Each Faction possesses a growing history that you will develop and add to as your week progresses.
